IN MINING, A LODE IS A RICH SEAM OF MINERAL ORE lyING BEneath THE EARTH’S SURFACE.
I’ve always felt there was a rich seam of stories about technological innovation that lie beneath Cornwall’s popular image as a county of beaches, pasties and fishing villages.
This blog is a project to find and unearth those stories, and bring them into a single place that will reveal the extent and diversity of innovation in Cornwall.
In doing so, I want to explore what innovation looks like in a rural county as opposed to a city, and how Cornwall’s geographical and cultural characteristics influence the way it invents technological solutions to its own problems and those facing the wider world.
Rather than news and companies, I want to focus on the people, ideas and projects that are shaping the future – for Cornwall, for the south-west, and for the world. If you have a story you think I should include, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
